R. Spencer Delamater, P.E. Scholarship
The R. Spencer Delamater, P.E. Scholarship was established in 1999 for the purpose of inspiring civil engineering students to achieve high levels in both academics and leadership. The scholarship amount is $2,000 applicable for the 2027 Spring semester and available to eligible juniors and seniors attending the civil engineering programs at Kansas State University, University of Kansas, or Benedictine College.
The objectives of the scholarship are to:

Recognize student whose leadership and service reflect a commitment to advancing the Civil Engineering profession and sercving society.

Recognize strong academic performance
ELIGIBILITY
The following criteria will be used to determine student eligibility for application to the scholarship:

Academic performance through the 2026 Spring semester of at least a 2.5 GPA. The selected student will be asked to provide a transcript of grades through the 2026 Spring semester (an applicant may submit the transcript with the application).

Having completed 75 credit hours minimum of graded work for juniors or 105 hours minimum for seniors by the end of the 2026 Fall semester.

Preference shall be granted to students who either 1) are from a high school or community college in the 37 county Wichita Branch territory prior to attending Kansas State University, University of Kansas or Benedictine College (See map of the Wichita Branch territory) or have interned with a company or government agency in the Wichita Branch territory.

A member of and involvement in the student chapter of ASCE.

Campus and community activity.
Applications may be submitted either electronically (email) or via hardcopy and must be received no later than 5:00 p. m. Friday, November 27, 2026. Only information provided on the Application Form will be evaluated. Provide a complete Application Form plus a copy of your driver’s license. You may also, at this time, provide a copy of your transcript.
The Scholarship Selection Committee will select the winner based upon the criteria shown on the Application Form and from consultations with the applicable civil engineering department faculty. The Wichita Branch of ASCE reserves the right to waive irregularities and/or not award a scholarship.
The application received earlier shall receive preference in the case of a tie in scoring.
The chosen student will be notified prior to the end of the year and, upon receipt of a transcript (if not already provided), will have deposited in your school account $2,000 to be applied for the 2027 Spring semester tuition. Non-attendance in your civil engineering program for the 2027 Spring semester will void the scholarship award.
