Dear ASCE Members:
I want to congratulate Dakota McKee, Designer (EIT) of Benesch for being elected to the
ASCE Wichita Branch Secretary position for the 2023-2024 Board. Dakota McKee grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from K-State in the spring of 2022 with a bachelors in civil engineering. In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and dogs and he’s an enthusiast of the Kansas City Chiefs and any K-State sport.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the annual Steak Fry on June 15th at Botanica, the Wichita Branch’s last event for the 2022-2023 Board. It has been a great year serving as President, the Board has been very supportive in trying different things like the well-attended Trivia Night as well as consolidating the Branch’s website with the ASCE Kansas Section. Thanks to our soon to be President Layla McDaniel, P.E., this year had excellent monthly meeting topics. A couple of my favorite events this year were the tours at the Wichita Concrete Pipe facility and the new Scheels store at Town East Square.
I will be transitioning to Past-President after the June meeting, where I will be contacting the local Civil Engineering companies to assist in Hands on Engineering at the Advance Learning Library which is the first Saturday of the month at 10:30 am. I will also coordinate the Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup, once in the fall 2023 and once again in the spring 2024. Thanks for your continued support in the ASCE Wichita Branch! I am glad through the generous support of our local Civil Engineering Community, the annual Steak Fry will be able to continue to provide financial support to the annual STEM grant awarded to area teachers and award the R. Spencer Delamater, P.E. Scholarship to a Benedictine College, K-State, or KU Civil Engineering student.
Scott Lindebak, P.E.
